school community.Position SummaryThe role of the English Subject
Expert Teacher (SET) is to ensure the day-to-day exceptional
education of students by preparing and facilitating subject
specific lesson plans. Subject Expert Teachers implement the
established BASIS Curriculum while tailoring specific topics to
integrate their knowledge and passion for the subject.ENGLISH 5
COURSE DESCRIPTION:This course will review the topics covered in
fourth-grade English, deepen student understanding of them, and
introduce a range of new topics. In addition to reviewing the parts
of speech, students will also develop a thorough understanding of
clauses and phrases, both how to recognize them and how to
incorporate them into their written assignments. Students will
practice writing in a variety of modes (descriptive, narrative,
persuasive, informative) and develop longer, more sophisticated
pieces over the course of the year. In addition to more rigorous
grammar and writing instruction, the literature component of the
course will move beyond basic questions of plot and setting and
begin to explore more nuanced questions of theme and character
development. Comparatively more robust discussions of novels,
poems, and essays will be the norm as students ascend another rung
on the pedagogical ladder.Essential Functions:Preparing and

subject instruction on a higher level than grade-standard in an
interactive learning environment to achieve exceptional results for
all studentsImplementing the BASIS Curriculum by designing
effective and creative lessons and assessments to ensure students'
education is internationally competitiveManaging student behavior
to foster academic achievement, personal responsibility, intellect,
individuality, and respect in all studentsParticipating in
extracurricular programs, such as clubs and sportsSubstituting/
duty coverage as neededOccasionally represent BASIS Ed Texas at
designated school wide community events outside of typical school
hoursSupervising individual students and/or groups of studentsOther

subject.Preferred Experience: 2+ years teaching/education

Information:Benefits and Salary: Starting Teacher Salary is $41,000
and is negotiable dependent on education and experience. BASIS Ed
