Job Title: Assistant Controller Assistant Controller Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Assistant Controller to
join a dynamic and fast-paced transportation company. This
individual will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting
operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and
maintaining compliance with internal controls and regulatory

Assistant Controller Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a team
of approximately five accounting professionals, including an
Accounting Manager, general accounting staff, Accounts Payable
Clerks, and an Accounts Receivable Clerk. Provide coaching,
performance evaluations, and professional development for direct
reports to maintain a high-performing and engaged team. Oversee the
accuracy and efficiency of core accounting functions, including:
Accounts Payable: Ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices
and maintain workflows in the EBE accounts payable application.
Accounts Receivable: Ensure receipts are recorded promptly and
accurately; assist in collections and coordinate with the billing
team as needed. General Accounting: Ensure all monthly and
quarterly closing deadlines are met. Enforce compliance with
accounting procedures and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls to ensure
the integrity of financial data and reports. Assist with internal
and external audit processes, providing required documentation and
data. Collaborate with external tax accountants for federal, state,
and local tax filings, including property tax reporting. Assistant
Controller Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting,
Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required). 5 years
of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a
supervisory or management capacity. Strong understanding of GAAP,
SOX compliance, and internal controls. Previous experience in the
transportation or logistics industry highly preferred. Proficiency
in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with EBE
software is a plus. Excellent organizational, communication, and
