STUDENT IN THE GREATER HOUSTON AREA TO APPLY FOR THIS OPENING.
General Summary The Bond Forfeiture Division has one paid Intern
who work to support the Attorneys and Administrative Assistants in
the Division. Interns generate and maintain case files for all
pending cases, processing cases through the Division's case
management workflow, and interacting with the public through
in-person and telephone conversations. Interns act as the primarily
support personnel for Administrative Assistants and Attorneys.
Duties and Responsibilities Manage files (including filing cases
away, pulling cases to match up with filed motions, organizing
filed, etc.) Preparing misdemeanor dockets for ADA review E-filing
proposed judgments for the court's approval Communications
(answering phones, interacting with the public in person,
generating and responding to emails) Draft bond reinstatement
orders for defendants and defense counsel Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities Must have the ability to listen and follow basic
instructions. Excellent communication skills are necessary to
communicate with and interact with the public. Bilingual skills
(especially Spanish) are a plus. Must have the ability to keep a
neat and tidy workspace and to organize files and documents. Must
have familiarity with and proficiency in computer skills such as
email, spreadsheet creation and maintenance, word processing,
scanning, and efiling. Required Education/Experience Interns are
expected to be enrolled and actively taking classes in an
accredited law school. One year of law school experience is
preferred, meaning that second- and third-year law students (2Ls
and 3Ls) will be considered for the position. Compensation and Work
Hours Paid interns are paid a salary of $20.00 per hour for up to
25 hours per week. HCDAO ask that paid interns have the ability to
commit to at least 20 hours per week. All work is done in office as
there are no work from home opportunities available for
interns.
