Services, Inc. (Cen-Tex) is a private, non-profit agency founded in
1993. Cen-Tex receives grant funds to provide Early Head Start/Head
Start programs in Bastrop, Lee, Fayette, and Colorado counties.
These programs are administered by the Office of Head Start,
Department of Health and Human Services and carried out through the
Hearts of Texas Head Start Program. About the Role: The EHS
Classroom Teacher at Eagle Lake CDC plays a pivotal role in
fostering a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for
young children. This position is responsible for implementing a
comprehensive curriculum that promotes the social, emotional,
physical, and cognitive development of children aged 0-5 years. The
teacher will collaborate with families and staff to create
individualized learning plans that cater to the unique needs of
each child. Additionally, the EHS Classroom Teacher will assess and
document children's progress, ensuring that they meet developmental
milestones. Ultimately, this role aims to prepare children for
future educational success while supporting their overall
well-being. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Infant/Toddler CDA
or equivalent credential and High School Diploma or General
Education Degree (GED); or Pre-school CDA with training and ability
to obtain CDA for infants and toddlers. Employee must be willing,
and possess the aptitude and skills necessary, to pursue the
preferred educational requirements. (as required by the Head Start
Standards) (You can still apply without a CDA, but you must have a
High School Diploma or GED. Plus, have experience working in a
licensed daycare.) Experience: Two years experience teaching, or
assistant teaching infants and toddlers in a licensed child care
center. Knowledge and experience in: child development and early
childhood education; the principles of child health, safety and
nutrition; and family dynamics. Working knowledge of: personal
computers; word processing; Internet access; and email usage.
Ability to work independently as well as with a team. Preferred
Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or
a related discipline; CDA for infants and toddlers. Experience with
curriculum development and assessment tools specific to early
childhood education. Training in special education or experience
working with children with diverse learning needs. Familiarity with
technology integration in early childhood classrooms. Bilingual
abilities or experience working in multicultural educational
environments. Responsibilities: Develop and implement
age-appropriate lesson plans that align with the Early Head Start
curriculum. Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom
environment that encourages exploration and learning. Conduct
regular assessments of children's development and maintain accurate
records of their progress. Collaborate with families to support
children's learning and development at home. Participate in ongoing
professional development and training to enhance teaching
practices. Skills: The required skills for this position include
strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are
essential for building relationships with children and their
families. Organizational skills are crucial for planning lessons
and maintaining accurate records of children's progress. Creativity
is necessary to develop engaging activities that capture children's
interest and promote learning. Preferred skills, such as
bilingualism, enhance the teacher's ability to connect with a
diverse student population. Additionally, knowledge of child
development principles is applied daily to tailor teaching
strategies that meet the varying needs of each child.
