Job Description:
Job Summary Through the AmeriCorps Texas grant program, Texas
Southmost College ( TSC ) will have AmeriCorps members who will 1)
increase communication about and access to campus resources and
support and 2) increase engagement in campus activities and with
academic support services at TSC in Brownsville, Texas. At the end
of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be
responsible for increasing TSC students’, who ewer served by the
program, fall-to-spring persistence rate to 75% and fall-to-fall
persistence rate of 63%. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Objective of the Assignment: Assist students with enrollment in
workforce training programs (non- ALL ) to help increase engagement
in campus activities and with academic support services. Provide
support for student persistence, such as reaching out if absent,
etc. Contact WTCE students on their post- TSC with career endeavors
and connect students with the Career and Employment Services office
for assistance with employment. Develop graduate and employer
surveys and standard operating procedures for survey distribution,
collection, and analysis. Plan and participate in outreach efforts
for their division/department. E.g., Welcome Week, campus events,
conferences, webinars, etc. Provide support for student
persistence, such as reaching out if absent, etc. Measures of the
Assignment: Number of students contacted and tracked by the
AmeriCorps members and: . Persist to end of term or completion of
program (short-term outcome) Register for and attend following
term: Winter/Spring from Fall or Summer/Fall from Spring (mid-term
outcome) Register for and attend the term starting one year from
initial point of capture or complete their program (mid-term
