SWCA's Austin, TX office offers a unique work environment and a diversified client-base, including generation / renewables, transportation, water infrastructure, oil and gas, and land development. SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking temporary Cultural Resources Technicians for our Austin, TX office to assist on projects based in the Oklahoma, Texas, and beyond. The schedule requires extensive travel subject to variable hours and schedules Candidates would need to have the flexibility to be away from home for up to 3 weeks at a time. Pay starts at $20.28 an hour and depends on experience. What you will accomplish

• Assist with conducting archaeological fieldwork (including pedestrian survey, site identification, site recording / data collection, monitoring and data recovery excavations).
• Conduct fieldwork for long hours in various environments including, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, inclement weather, and rugged terrain.
• Accurately identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features.
• Assist with cultural resource records searches, laboratory analysis tasks, and other office work, as needed.
• Adhere to the safety program and looks out for the safety of others, promptly communicating and mitigating safety hazards.
• Work independently in a responsible manner.
• Work as a productive member of a team and follow the direction of the field supervisor
  Experience and qualifications for success
  
  
  • Required:
    • High school diploma or equivalent and 6+ months of relevant field experience
    • Must have a valid driver's license, the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle background screening, and have access to reliable transportation.
    • Able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Available for fieldwork on local projects and for fieldwork requiring extended travel (staying in a hotel for up to 3 weeks at a time).
    • Preferred:
      • • Bachelor's degree or higher in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field, preferred.
        • Completion at an accredited Field School
        • Knowledge of GPS, Collector, and Survey123 applications
        • Experience with a range of field methodologies; including survey, testing, excavation, and heavy equipment or ground disturbing activity monitoring is preferred.
        • Additional Information:
          • Compensation based on education and experience.
          • Estimated time in the field is 90-100%
          • Project schedules may often include up to 10-hour days, 6 days a week for extended periods.
          • Hours worked over 40 hours per week are paid at time-and-a-half rate.
          • Single occupancy hotels paid for directly by SWCA.
          • Per diem up to $68 for full day, unless otherwise noted for specific projects.
          • Vehicles provided for projects.

A Cultural Resources Technician in this Austin, TX- based position can expect a rate of $20.28/hour to $26.77/hour. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law.
