Internship MetroNational’s Operations Maintenance & Building
Engineering Internship offers a structured, hands-on paid
opportunity for students interested in mechanical systems,
facilities operations, and building performance within a large
mixed-use real estate portfolio. Following MetroNational’s
internship program structure, interns will spend approximately 75%
of their time working within Engineering & Operations teams and 25%
participating in company-wide programming, including site visits,
job shadowing, and professional development. This unique internship
includes rotations across multiple engineering portfolios , giving
interns exposure to different building types, systems, and
operational priorities. Interns must be prepared for hands-on
maintenance and mechanical work and demonstrate confidence using
basic tools in real operational environments. Interns will work
alongside seasoned Building Engineers who maintain HVAC, plumbing,
electrical, and building systems—core responsibilities aligned with
MetroNational Building Engineering roles. All work is guided by

You’ll Do Participate in a rotation across multiple buildings and
engineering portfolios to gain exposure to HVAC, cooling towers,
pumps, motors, and other mechanical systems. Support Building
Engineers in performing preventive maintenance , inspections, and
basic troubleshooting. Assist with hands-on maintenance tasks such
as filter changes, light fixture replacements, lubrication of
motors, belt checks, and general repairs. Shadow engineers during
building system checks, meter readings, and adjustment of control
systems, thermostats, valves, and gauges. Learn operational and
safety procedures related to mechanical rooms, equipment rooms, and
building systems. Participate in work order processes, documenting
completed work and helping track equipment performance. Support
special projects, operational improvements, or engineering
initiatives based on team needs. Document your work clearly and
deliver a final presentation summarizing your contributions at the
end of the internship. Technologies & Tools You May Be Exposed To
Building automation systems (BAS) and control panels HVAC
components: heaters, chillers, pumps, VFDs, and air-handling
equipment Work order and maintenance management software Electrical
and mechanical hand tools Safety equipment and standard operational
procedures Requirements: Required Qualifications Education &
Training Pathways Candidates may qualify through any one of the
following: Enrollment in an accredited college or university
majoring in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Facilities
Management, Construction Science, or similar programs Enrollment in
or recent completion of an accredited trade/technical program
(HVAC, Building Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, Facilities
Technology) Completion of a recognized certificate program related
to maintenance, building systems, or facility operations All
applicants must submit a transcript or program record , showing:
Minimum 3.2 GPA for college students Equivalent performance
evaluation for trade/certificate programs Additional Requirements
Must commit to full-time, on-site participation for all 8 weeks
(June 1 – July 31, 2026). Remote internships are not available .
Must be willing and able to perform hands-on mechanical and
maintenance tasks . Must demonstrate the ability to safely use
basic hand tools and follow direction in a technical environment.
Strong interest in building engineering, maintenance operations, or
