Overview
The Director of Operations: Serves at the executive level and is responsible for execution of strategic objectives and goals with direct oversight of assigned facilities and service lines; Ensures internal operations provide the best in patient care and the best atmosphere for staff; Provides insightful and energized leadership and management of College Station Hospital, assigned market clinical and non-clinical departments, and service lines initiatives within the St. Joseph Market; Directly responsible for assigned areas to achieve specific goals/metrics as to the operational and strategic plan; Focuses on the pillars of People, Quality, Service, Stewardship, and Growth and assures performance of assigned areas meet or exceed targets; Supports the mission, vision, and values of CommonSpirit, this leader collaborates for the development of the organizational culture and that it excels in patient engagement. The Director of Operations must develop and maintain collaborative physician relations that build on their key roles as both partners and customers, and must coordinate and partner with National and Divisional partners. The network includes more than 20 ambulatory clinics featuring primary care a freestanding Emergency Room Express Clinics and imaging and diagnostic services.
Responsibilities

  • Participates in decision-making processes by collaborating with market executive team, hospital leadership council, medical staff and clinical areas in carrying out the hospital's strategic plans, budgets, resource allocation, operation plans and policies.
  • Accountable to the Market Chief Nursing Officer for the oversight of the organization's nursing care and governance. Assists in managing an effective, ongoing program to assess, measure, and improve the quality of nursing care delivered.
  • Collaborates with Senior Management Team to set strategic direction for the assigned areas, including planning and managing processes and services for these disciplines to meet current and future needs. Develops and integrates these plans and processes to support the vision, mission, and strategies in collaboration with National, Division, and Market leadership as applicable.
  • Leads key strategic initiatives for the Market to include College Station reconfiguration, Robotic Surgery service line growth, Maternal Child Services service line growth, Orthopedic Service line and others as assigned. Works across the market to implement strategies to improve operating room efficiency and manages costs. Works with teams at both campuses to develop best practices around cost containment and revenue optimization.
  • Mentors and develops managers and staff to assume leadership roles both formally and informally, via role modeling and facilitating staff participation in a shared leadership structure. Directs the implementation and administration of a shared decision making model.
  • Plans, promotes, and conducts quality monitoring and enhancement activities; actively involved in advancing clinical outcomes and quality improvements within the framework of the St. Joseph Performance Improvement Plan. Collaboratively creates effective and ongoing programs to monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality of care and services.
  • Advocates for staff in the assigned areas regarding the allocation of resources including FTE, systems, equipment, and support. Provides for the development and management of operating and capital budgets for assigned areas. Responsible for overall performance according to budget.
  • Provides for the establishment and implementation of patient care standards including policies and procedures that meet National, State, and Local rules and regulation as well as voluntary accreditation stands.
  • Utilizes the Lean Management System, directs creative strategies to reduce waste, lowers costs while maintaining or enhancing quality.
  • Demonstrates and creates expectation of consistency in application of HR policies and procedures across departments.
  • Maintains ongoing compliance with organizational accreditation standards (i.e. Joint Commission, CAP, ACS) in assigned operational and administrative areas.
  • Provides leadership to medical staff. Builds and maintains strong relationships and ensures adequate staffing levels. Partners with local medical staff to ensure their business is where they want it to be through service enhancements, improved access/convenience, visiting specialist services and by building professional relationships. Develops succession plans for medical staff and the specialties that may need to be brought into the area.
  • Represents St. Joseph Market entities as appropriate at community events and community organizations to further and strengthen the organizational relationships and partnerships within Brazos Valley.
    Qualifications
    Required Education and Experience: Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Master's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration or similar area of study Experience: Five years of hospital and leadership experience Required Licensure & Certifications: Registered Nurse RN (BSN) Certification as a Nurse Executive within two years of hire Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Training: Excellent clinical and business skills, Strong multi-tasker, excellent follow through, well-organized leader Management skills suitable for a complex tertiary level patient care setting
    Pay Range
    $51.41 - $74.55 /hour
