Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison GI/GU/Thoracic Texas
Purpose:
Scientific and Clinical Experts (SEs/CEs) are recognized for their expertise in specific therapeutic areas, requiring in-depth scientific information to treat patients, conduct research, and educate others. The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program caters to these needs through a field-based team with deep knowledge of disease states, Lilly and competitors' products, and landscape. MSLs gather and communicate strategic insights from interactions with SEs and CEs to inform Lilly's research, development, and commercialization strategies. They facilitate scientific exchange to shape future healthcare solutions.

Scientific & Clinical Knowledge
The MSL aims to provide researchers and practitioners with precise, relevant scientific and clinical information, addressing care gaps and clarifying complex questions. This entails synthesizing recent research on products, diseases, and standards of care, requiring substantial experience or clinical training, and ongoing learning to maintain expertise. The MSL becomes a trusted resource for unbiased, current medical information.
Full Spectrum SE/CE Support
Using emotional intelligence and strategic thinking, MSLs serve as primary contacts between Lilly Medical and SEs/CEs, delivering positive experiences and supporting evidence sharing to improve patient outcomes. They connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources and facilitate research collaborations, supporting clinical studies and investigator engagement.
Field Execution, Geo Management, and Productivity
MSLs analyze customer data to plan and prioritize engagement with SEs/CEs through face-to-face and virtual interactions. They implement strategic territory plans, utilize analytics, and ensure compliance across Lilly field roles, optimizing customer engagement and meeting performance goals.
Strategic Vision and Leadership
MSLs synthesize insights to inform Lilly teams, exercise sound judgment, escalate issues appropriately, and collaborate across functions. They adapt to change, demonstrate strategic agility, and leverage innovative tools. Team contribution and compliance with internal and external regulations are essential.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:


  • Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD); at least two years of relevant clinical or TA experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree considered with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship anticipated.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.

    Location and Travel:

    • Must reside within Texas and near a transport hub.
    • Willingness to travel up to 80%, including weekends.

      Additional Preferences:

      • Strong interpersonal, presentation, digital skills, and learning agility.
      • Experience with digital engagement platforms and familiarity with health systems, research, and medical education.
      • Gastrointestinal, genitourinary, or thoracic oncology experience preferred.

        Compensation for this role ranges from $145,500 to $213,400, depending on experience and location. Benefits include bonuses, 401(k), health coverage, flexible spending, insurance, leave, and wellness programs. Lilly reserves the right to modify these programs at its discretion.
