A&M employeeRequired Education and Experience:Master's degree
in nursing or equivalent level of education and experience that
qualifies the applicant to hold a Nurse Practitioner License in
Texas.Two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in mental
health.Required Licenses and Certifications:Texas Board of Nursing
Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licenses
with prescriptive authority in Texas.Board certified in mental
health.DEA registrationBLS certification.Licensure/certification
must be maintained for continued employment.Required Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities:Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively
with others.Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain
confidentiality.Time management and prioritization skills.Strong
written and verbal communication skills.Interpersonal
skills.Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR)
systems.Knowledge of confidentiality rules and regulations,
including HIPAA and FERPA.Preferred Qualifications:Board certified
as a Family Nurse Practitioner.Five years of experience as a
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse
Practitioner.Responsibilities:Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse
Practitioner : Provides clinical assessments, diagnostic
evaluations, and crisis intervention for patients with mental
health care needs. Monitors patients to ensure adherence to
treatment plans. Is responsible for complex patients based on area
of expertise. Engages in counseling/clinical-related activities.
Prescribes and monitors medications. Serves as an internal resource
for clinic staff and medical providers regarding psychiatric-mental
health care questions. Completes outside referrals as needed.
Completes accurate and appropriate documentation of patient
encounters in the electronic medical records system in a timely
manner. Acts in accordance with all policies/procedures, relevant
licensing boards, and local, state and federal laws regulating
Nurse Practitioners. May serve as a practicum instructor or
preceptor for graduate or undergraduate students. Consults with
other providers regarding patients' psychiatric medications and
treatment plans to ensure appropriateness and coordination of care.
Uses technology to leverage scarce resources and share best
practices to reduce disparities. Apply case-based learning to
master complexity and evaluate and monitor outcomes. Be the
clinical leader to help organize and provide regular remote
educational (ECHO) sessions to create a virtual community of
primary care professionals providing support, guidance, and
feedback on caring for mental health patients.Continuing
Education/Committees : Participates in continuing education to
maintain licensure and board certification. Serves on committees as
assigned. May assist in preparing patient educational materials.
May conduct scholarly presentations to clinic staff and participate
in educational activities for staff, students, and trainees of
other disciplines.Performs other duties as assigned.Instructions to
