Summary and Qualifications The Director is responsible for the
overall operation for the Medical Surgical Areas. The Director will
provide leadership to ensure organizational goals are achieved. -
You will set goals and objectives based on the needs of the work
unit(s). Meet organizational goals. Take proactive view and
anticipates change and need for action. - You will prepare
departmental budget, projecting reasonable activity levels and
expenses required to achieve approved net margin for work unit(s).
Operate work unit(s) within approved budget. - You will maintain
compliance with current requirements of outside
regulatory/accrediting agencies. Assure that new
requirements/regulations are identified and coordinates hospital
compliance. - You will demonstrate understanding of Process
Improvement. - You will promote the systematic assessment and
improvement of performance. - You will continuously assess and
improve the performance of care and services provided by using
information available from stakeholders and other sources, to
improve outcomes. - You will demonstrate high ethical standards in
business practices. Actively support organizational goals and
changes as they occur. Communicate goals in positive, supportive
manner. - You will guide, direct, and plan the organization and
coordination of the department activities in the areas of
responsibility. You will demonstrate effectiveness in the following
areas: - Recruiting employees. - Developing staff and preparing
employees for career advancement. - Providing continuous employee
assessment with timely written evaluations and demonstrates ability
to motivate employees. - Initiate progressive disciplinary
action/termination when necessary. - Maintaining turnover at an
acceptable level in order to meet hospital turnover goals. - You
will actively participate in Hospital and Departmental committees
and group meetings and providing input regarding improving the
quality of patient care services in the facility. - You will serve
as a representative on community and regional disaster and
emergency preparedness councils. - You will conduct routine
department meetings to keep staff informed. Insure that there is a
complete flow of information through the department. - You will
comply with Employee Health and Injury policy/protocol. Comply with
all emergency codes, disaster protocols, infection control
protocols, and safety protocols. Ensure staff attends
required/mandatory in-services and that staff receives continuing
education to remain current in their field. - You will demonstrate
knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients and
families served in relation to growth and development over the life
span to identify their requirements relative to age-specific needs.
- You will actively support, implement, and monitor all national
patient safety goals and standards, core measures and quality

you will need: - Bachelor degree in area of expertise or equivalent
experience. - 3-5 years Healthcare Management experience required.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree - Required: Texas RN license. If
Compact License, Texas License must be obtained within 90 days of
hire; BLS certification required as per St. David’s HealthCare
