Job Description:
PURPOSE The X-Ray Technologist performs imaging exams to assist
in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This role involves
positioning patients, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring the
accuracy and quality of images. The X-Ray Technologist typically
reports to the Director of Radiology and works closely with
radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Preparation and Positioning • Explain
imaging procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain
cooperation. • Position radiographic equipment at the correct angle
and height over the appropriate area of the patient’s body. •
Ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging procedures.
Imaging Procedures • Operate radiologic and magnetic imaging
equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. •
Follow physicians’ orders precisely and conform to regulations
concerning the use of radiation. • Administer contrast media and
medications within the accepted scope of practice. Image Evaluation
and Quality Control • Review and evaluate developed X-rays or
computer-generated images to determine if they are satisfactory for
diagnostic purposes. • Perform quality control checks on imaging
equipment to ensure it is safe and in working order. • Maintain
accurate patient records and documentation. Patient Care and
Support • Monitor patients’ conditions and reactions during and
after imaging procedures. • Address any patient concerns or adverse
reactions promptly. • Provide post-procedure instructions and
support to patients. Administrative Duties • Maintain radiology
supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs,
and placing orders. • Ensure a clean and organized working
environment in the imaging suite. • Participate in team meetings
and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or a
related field At least 2 year(s) of experience in relevant
experience in radiology or medical imaging Certification as a
Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Texas Medical Board (TMB) licensure
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology
or a related field At least 3 year(s) of experience in Radiology
Tech or in a similar role. Certification in MRI or CT imaging
SALARY RANGE OPEN WORKING ENVIRONMENT/EQUIPMENT • Standard office
equipment • Repetitive use of a keyboard • May be exposed to such
occupational hazards as communicable diseases, blood borne
pathogens, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, hazardous
medications and disoriented or combative patients, or others.
