ResponsibilitiesJOB SUMMARY

* Join a team of 22 Certified Surgical Technicians in a 19 suite Operating Room. This consists of 16 OR suites, 2 Endoscopy suites, and 1 Cystoscopy suite. We are a Level 2 Trauma Center, so Call is required to include approximately 4-5 weekdays and 1-2 24 hour weekend call shifts each month. The Certified Surgical Technician will assist in patient care and preparation of surgical patients; Perform scrub duties and related procedures; Accountable for ensuring cleaning and maintenance of supplies and equipment for selected specialty.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

* ESSENTIAL

1. Assists RN with circulator duties while under direct supervision.

2. Assists surgical team in the scrubbing role according to the prescribed standards.

3. Maintains sterile field. Reports immediately any breaks in aseptic technique.

4. Passes instruments, suture products, medication, and sponge materials to surgeon.

5. Assists with retracting of tissue and organs, and suctioning by holding the retracting instrument placed by the surgeon.

6. Electrosurgical current may be applied as directed by the surgeon, to an established instrument placed by the surgeon.

7. Performs surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure.

8. Assures appropriate equipment and supplies are available for each procedure.

9. Assists in housekeeping duties as directed to insure safe patient environment.

o Preferred: Associate degree (2yr program) or equivalent

Preferred: One to two years' experience

* Skills

o Required: Previous Operating Room Experience.

* Licensure/Certifications

o Required: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST/CSFA) required as of September 2010 or "grandfathered: employees - OR-LVN. #missioncritical
