  2. Job Summary
  
  
  
• The Utility/Relief Operator is responsible for performing a variety of general labor tasks such as unloading rail cars and trucks, maintaining plant housekeeping, and performing routine maintenance on the plant and equipment.
  
  3. Immediate Supervisor
  
  
  
• This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor.
  
  4. Performance Standards
  
  
  
• Providing exceptional customer service to all customers, suppliers, and employees.
• Constantly representing of the company in a positive and professional manner regardless of customer requests, complaints, or demeanor.
• Complying with policies and procedures.
• Interacting with other employees, suppliers, and customers in a courteous and professional manner.
• Communicating work progress and significant issues to the immediate supervisor.
  
  5. Responsibilities
  
  
  
• Performs labor tasks such as unloading rail cars, clean up, shoveling and preventative maintenance.
• Trains to operate mobile equipment, including front-end loader, motor grader, track mobile, haul unit.
• Provides relief in other plant operations as needed.
• Assist with equipment and plant repairs, maintenance and housekeeping.
• Performs maintenance on equipment when needed.
• Inspects all operations of equipment.
• Responsible for completing any assignments given by Supervisor, even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description.
  
  6. Qualifications
  
  
  
• One-year certificate from college or technical school OR
• Three to six months related experience and/or training.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Knowledge of use and care of common hand tools.
  
  7. Working Conditions
  
  
  
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and varied outdoor environments in all weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
  
  8. Physical Requirements
  
  
  
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  
  9. Training Requirements
  
  
  
• Must be trained and licensed to operate forklift and trained to operate bridge crane. Must have valid drivers license.
