Quality Control Trainee

Primary Functions:

  • To develop managerial and leadership skills while becoming knowledgeable about the poultry industry, Sanderson Farms, Inc., and its various divisions and positions relative to quality control, ie., Quality Control, Laboratory, Feed Mill, poultry health monitoring, auditing, and all Quality Control Programs within the Processing facility.
  • Training for and performing duties of quality control personnel related to processing including, but not limited to, quality control, HACCP, regulatory compliance and animal welfare.
  • Training for and performing duties of quality control personnel related to Production including, but not limited to, animal welfare, poultry health monitoring, and regulatory compliance.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Developing effective management and leadership skills necessary to perform quality control functions.
  • Become proficient in the company's methods of operation and familiar with the goals and policies of the company and the divisions and their interrelationship.
  • Perform position duties as assigned to maintain maximum efficiency in the quality control departments, and do so in accordance with current position descriptions for those jobs/duties.
  • Perform those specific special assignments as may be required in an accurate and timely manner.

Key Working Relationships:

  • Works closely with and is accountable to the Director of Technical Services.
  • Works closely with and builds and maintains effective working relationships with division managers, QC Managers and staff, and Laboratory personnel.
  • Works with other individuals and groups internally and externally as required to contribute to corporate objectives and foster corporate relationships.
  • Identifies with values, philosophy and mission of Sanderson Farms, Inc.
  • Ability to conceptualize, communicate, adapt to and perform various and different quality control functions within the corporate structure.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers.
  • Reside within a 30 minute radius of worksite.

Position Requirements:

Academic: Bachelor's or Master's degree

Experience: None required

Physical: Able to work in various temperatures. Able to work in wet and humid environment. Able to bend, stoop, reach, grasp, twist, kneel and climb. Able to lift 50lbs or more, utilizing proper lifting techniques. Able to work in noisy and dusty environments. Able to stand for long periods of time. Tolerate exposure to chemicals within OSHA limits. Able to wear all required PPE. Able to meet the criteria of the DOT Motor Vehicle. Travel as needed by the company and willing to relocate to meet company needs.
