Program InformationThe Vikings Kicking Out Tobacco (VKOT) Community Coalition COVID Specialist position is funded by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission beginning September 1, 2021, for a period of 18 months. The VKOT Community Coalition is located at Bryan High School.iJob PurposeTo address the negative impact of COVID-19 on behavioral health. Use data to pinpoint areas within Brazos County that are most disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and behavioral health disparities. Develop, implement, promote and document community-wide strategies that address the behavioral health disparities identified by data. Strategies should focus on reducing stress, addressing trauma, or promoting behavioral health and wellness.iJob DescriptionImplement SAMHSAis five-step Strategic Prevention Plan (SPF) which includes Assessment, Capacity Building, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation.i Cultural Competency, and Sustainability are guiding principles utilized throughout the process.Work closely with area resources and service providers including the PRC 7 Coordinators.iWork with the VKOT Coalition Coordinator to coordinate and facilitate existing or new coalition activities.iDevelop and implement projects that change physical environment, build community resilience, or improve systemic processes to enhance behavioral health and wellness.Compile county and communityispecific data and report data to coalition members, PRC 7, and funding agency.iUse data to pinpoint areas within the community that are most disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and behavioral health disparities.Develop, prioritize and document strategies that address the negative impact COVID-19 has had on behavioral health and wellness and should focus on equity.Develop and implement community-wide activities that reduce stress, address trauma, or promote behavioral health and wellness.Assist the Coalition with establishing criteria to identify community priorities.iPrioritize behavioral health equity; and focus services and resources in areas disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.Complete all documentation and reports in a timely manner for submission to the Coalition, the Program Director, the Executive Director, and the funding agency, as required.iSet-up and close down coalition events, including meetings and activities.iCoordinate with other community organizations and the local PRC as frequently as possible.Respond to all communication from both internal and external sources in a timely manner.Participate in agency wide activities as needed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the organization in furthering its mission.Perform any other duties as assigned by the Prevention Services Director or Executive Director.Conduct marketing and educational presentations to campus organizations and community organizations.Meet all funding agency Measures and required elements in the Statement of Work.iQualifications, Skills, and RequirementsiQualificationsHigh school diploma required. Experience working with community organizations is a plus. Job starts September 1, 2021, and ends 18 months from start date.iiPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMust be computer proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.Must be very organized and detailed.Must be able to work with a diverse population.Must have experience in data collection and interpretation.iMust have the ability to prepare and submit reports in a timely manner.iMust have the ability to work in a non-structured environment.iMust enjoy working with the media (press, TV and radio) as well as social media.Must be able to prepare a budget.Must be able to develop and present materials to community leaders and members.Must be able to work late nights and some weekends.Must be able to design and develop promotional materials.Must be able to lift and move equipment.iOther RequirementsMust complete all training, including certifications as required by funding agency.iMust have strong public speaking skills.iMust
