Work involves planning,coordinating, and implementing activities; and coordinating with otherdepartments to ensure the maximum utilization for resourcesavailable in compliance with Management & Training Corporation(MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ)directives.EssentialFunctions Provides didactic sessions according to designatedcurricula in the program. Presents DWI education and life skillsclasses to assist offenders with basic education on thesetopics. Guides and assist offenders in complying with facilityrules and regulations. Supervises offender work functions inaccordance with program policies such as morning wake up routinesaccording to establishedschedules. Monitors offender behavior and reports incidents,inappropriate or unusual behaviors to appropriate treatment teamstaff. Notifies appropriate personnel of offenders failing tocomply with policies andprocedures. Promote the development of positive social skillsthrough modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening wheninappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback tostaff regarding social skills procedures and interventiontechniques. Maintain accountability of staff, offenders andproperty; Adhere to safetypractices.It is expected that theincumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/hercapabilities as determined bymanagement.Education and ExperienceRequirements Graduation from an accredited senior high school orequivalent (GED). Provide proof of submittal of application for SubstanceAbuse Counselor Intern (CI) status or Certified Criminal JusticeProfessional Applicant status (CCJP-A).Associates degree in the fields of psychology,sociology, counseling, social work, criminal justice, or educationis preferred. Related experience is a plus.Within90 days of employment, must have a letter of registration as aSubstance Abuse Counselor Intern from the Texas Department of StateHealth Services or current certification as a Certified CriminalJustice Additions Professional - Applicant as approved by the TexasCertification Board of Addiction Professionals.Validdriver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable drivingrecord required, unless waived by management.Post HireRequirementsMust successfully complete aTDCJ approved correctional awareness training (CAT). Mustsuccessfully complete annual in-service training requirements andpass an annual background check, both of which must be approved byTexas Department of Criminal Justice.#ZR#Talent
