Coordinator 2 - Student Transfers leads a team of district transfer
analysts responsible for delivering high-quality customer service
and support to HISD families throughout the school choice and
transfer process. This role ensures efficient, equitable, and
family-centered transfer operations aligned with district policies
and enrollment goals.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESList most important duties first
1. Supervise and support a team of district transfer analysts,
ensuring high performance, accountability, and a customer
service-oriented approach in all family interactions.
2. Manage the end-to-end student transfer process, including
application intake, eligibility review, placement coordination, and
communication with families and schools.
3. Monitor and enforce adherence to district transfer policies and
procedures, ensuring equity, transparency, and consistency in all
decisions.
4. Design and implement strategies to improve the family experience
during the school choice and transfer process, including clear
communication, timely updates, and accessible support.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED5. Work closely with
campus leaders, district departments, and enrollment teams to
coordinate transfer logistics and address school capacity and
placement considerations.
6. Use data to monitor transfer trends, identify areas for
improvement, and recommend system enhancements to streamline
operations and better serve families.
7. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONBachelor's Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE1 TO 3 years of Experience with customer success
SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONMicrosoft Office
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIESAccomplishes most work objectives
through the management of direct reports. Provides day-to-day
directions to staff; they may become directly involved, as
required, to meet schedules and resolve problems. Responsible for
assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring
application of policies and procedures. Receives assignments in the
form of objectives, with goals and the process by which to meet
goals. Provides input for hiring performance and budget.
WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENTWork is substantially complex,
varied and regularly requires the selection and application of
technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required
to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well
as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to
management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision
received typically consists of providing direction on the more
complex projects and new job duties and priorities.
BUDGET AUTHORITYN/APROBLEM SOLVINGDecisions are made with greater
freedom and discretion, including recommendations that are subject
to approval on matters that may affect multiple departments across
HISD. Job is frequently expected to recommend new solutions to
problems, to improve existing methods/procedures/services and
generate new ideas. May also review decisions made by other
individuals on more routine matters.
IMPACT OF DECISIONSDecisions have considerable impact on multiple
divisions or the organization causing risks or improvements to
relationships, significant efficiencies, or delays in operations,
and/or significant financial gains or expenses. Errors are serious
and difficult to discover, normally involve decisions not subject
to detailed review and will result in excessive costs and/or
significant project delays.
COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONSinterprets department strategies and
services, resolves conflicts, influences outcomes on matters of
significance for the division, conducts final negotiations and
coordinates approvals/decision making below the executive level.
Interactions are typically with customers and Top Management.
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPSRegularly assesses and diffuses complex, and
escalated customer issues. Takes personal responsibility and
accountability for solving systemic customer service problems.
Regularly explores alternative and creative solutions to meeting
the needs of the customer within HISD's policies and
guidelines.
WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSWork is normally performed in a
typical interior work environment which does not subject the
employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
